Join Micah Mortali, Founder of the School of Rewilding and author of Rewilding: Meditations, Practices and Skills for Awakening in Nature, for a life changing 5-day, in-person intensive on a mountaintop in the sacred Berkshire Hills. Tap into your wild side as you learn to live close to nature and reclaim ancient skills.  

You will learn to thrive and survive in nature in the context of a supportive community environment, with expert facilitation and guidance provided by Micah and his team. Walk with reverence for the living earth and recover your place in the “more than human world”.  Leave this intensive with a deep sense of connection with natural forces, a feeling of belonging in nature, and a raft of essential skills so you can walk with humble confidence wherever you go.

  • The Way of Council: The Art of Deep Listening
  • Traditional Archery and How to Move in the Forest with Bow and Arrow
  • Bushcraft Tool Safety and Basic Skills: Whittling, Carving, Batoning, Notches.
  • Emergency and Improvised Shelter Building
  • The Throwing Stick
  • The Philosophy and Skillset of Being a Fire Carrier (Ferro, Flint and Steel, Bow-Drill)
  • The Art of Tracking: Reading the Earth Through Tracks, Sign, Scat and Topography
  • Camouflage and Invisibility
  • Harvesting and Treating Wild Water
  • The 8 C’s of Preparedness and What to Carry

 

 

Location:

Located on top of Shaker Mountain in New Lebanon in a mature hardwood forest, Shaker Mountain holds a profound space for our journey of connection with the natural world. With breathtaking views, ancient stones, trees, wildlife, and an abundance of trails to explore, Shaker Mountain will be the perfect setting for our time together.

What You’ll Need to Bring:

  • Tent or Hammock
  • Sleeping bag and sleeping pad
  • Day pack
  • Rain gear

  • Headlamp

  • Knife (fixed blade) 

 

Traditional Archery (longbow or recurves only please, no compounds).

Tuition $1,099*

 

N.B. $300 non-refundable deposit (If you cancel 15 days or more before the program starts, this will be held for up to 1 year as credit towards a future program).
*If program is cancelled on-site by Shire Quests for safety reasons remaining tuition funds will be refunded.
